2014 has not been a landmark year in any sense of the word for the Bandai Figuarts Zero One Piece figures line. Bandai has skipped several months of the year altogether for the One Piece Figuarts Zero line, and we’ve yet to have a single month with more than one figure scheduled for release. At least–until now! We’re going to have to wait a few more weeks for photos, but Bandai Japan has announced not one, not two, but three mass-released One Piece Figuarts Zero Dress Rosa figures for October 2014: Nico Robin, Gladiator Lucy and Donquixote Doflamingo!
While up until now Bandai Japan has been retreading over the same One Piece Dressrosa arc characters that have already been announced by MegaHouse, Bandai has three Dress Rosa Figuarts Zero figures scheduled for October 2014 that are unlikely to arrive in P.O.P form this year (if ever). Better still, all three of these figures are expected to be mass released, meaning that we won’t have to deal with going through import stores for yet more limited One Piece Figuarts Zero figures! Praise Bandai!
First up, it’s the Corrida Colosseum version of Monkey D. Luffy–Gladiator Lucy! This is a pretty major variation of Luffy that I was hoping would get the full One Piece Portrait of Pirates treatment, but as of yet it looks like only Bandai is interested in realizing Lucy in plastic form. The One Piece Figuarts Zero Gladiator Lucy figure will carry a price-point of 3,024 yen (about $30 US) and be released in October 2014.
The One Piece Figuarts Zero Nico Robin Dress Rosa Version figure will be released in October 2014 and retail for 3,789 yen (about $37 US). The pose for this figure remains to be seen, as Robin hasn’t done a whole lot in the Dressrosa arc of the One Piece anime (besides be molested by small fairy-like creatures).
Finally, we’ve got what many will consider the biggest release of this wave–the One Piece Figuarts Zero Donquixote Doflamingo Dress Rosa Version figure! This is the second Donquixote Doflamingo Figuarts Zero figure to see release, although the first edition Figuarts Zero One Piece Doflamingo figure is long sold out and sells for hefty amounts on the aftermarket these days.
Not only will the many One Piece fans who never had a chance to buy a FAZ Doflamingo action figure for a fair price be happy about this release, but with the advancements to Bandai’s sculpting and quality control in the last few years, even those who have the original One Piece Figuarts ZERO Donquixote Doflamingo may find themselves wanting the Dress Rosa version as well!
The One Piece Figuarts Zero Dress Rosa Nico Robin, Donquixote Doflamingo and Gladiator Lucy (Luffy) figures are expected to go up for sale at the end of July 2014/beginning of August 2014. I’ll post an update here and to the One Piece Z Facebook page as soon as these figures go up for order, as well as when we see our first images of them.
Are you excited for this trio of Dressrosa versions of familiar One Piece characters, One Piece collectors? Or would you have preferred more never-before-done One Piece FAZ figures continue to be released instead of new versions of old favorites?
