One of the hottest (no pun intended) One Piece Figuarts Zero figures ever released has turned out to be the awesome Figuarts Zero Portgas D. Ace Cross Fire Battle Version figure that Bandai released at the start of 2014. If you missed out on the pre-orders for that figure and don’t want to pay $200 for it on the aftermarket (or get an inferior counterfeit bootleg from Hong Kong), then you’re in luck! As the One Piece Figuarts Zero exclusive for the winter Tamashii Nations 2014 event, Bandai is bringing us a repaint of the coveted Ace: the Figuarts Zero Portgas D. Ace Battle Ver. Special Color Edition is now up for order!
Had Bandai Japan realized how incredibly popular their One Piece Figuarts Zero Cross Fire Battle Ver. Portgas D. Ace Special Color Edition figure was going to be, I suspect that they wouldn’t have made the figure a limited edition, Bandai Web Shop online exclusive when they put it up for order last year.
But hindsight is 20/20, and the error of their ways has clearly dawned on Bandai. Thus, Bandai Japan is bringing the Portgas D. Ace Cross Fire Battle Version statue back for fans who missed it the first time–as this year’s One Piece Tamashii Nations 2014 winter exclusive!
While the basic Fire Fist Ace Battle Version figure/statue sculpt will remain identical to the original version that was released in January, the new version will have a totally different color scheme that looks downright awesome…
In addition, Ace’s clothes will have a metallic sheen to them this time, and you can see the light from the fire reflecting on Ace’s hair. Gorgeous! I’m ordinarily not a big “repaint figure” kind of guy, but I love the heck out of this Portgas D. Ace Figuarts Zero Special Color Edition. This is a definite buy for me, and I’ve already placed my pre-order for it.
I’m a big orange fan, so I totally mark out for the clear orange figure display stand that comes with the metallic Figuarts Zero Cross Figure Ace statue. I think having the fire-like orange as Ace’s display base is a lot less jarring than the black display stand that the original figure came with, so I considering this figure stand to be a big improvement over the initial one.
The Tamashii Nations Winter 2014 exclusive Portgas D. Ace Figuarts Zero Special Color Edition figure is now available for order, and is expected to arrive in the United States in November/December 2014. This is a very limited figure and this Cross Fire Ace Special Color Edition will sell out fast, so if you even think you might want this Portgas D. Ace Figuarts Zero figure, make sure you place a pre-order for it ASAP.
What do you think of the repainted Figuarts Zero One Piece Portgas D. Ace Battle Ver. Special Color Edition, One Piece collectors? Are you happy to see Bandai reissue a repaint of such a sought-after figure, or do you cry foul on Bandai bringing back a figure that was a limited edition in the first place?
