While we’ve still got a week until 2015 rolls into town, I don’t think it’s too early yet at all to name 2015 “the year of Sabo figures”. The number of Sabo figures, statues, capsule toys and so forth to be released in 2015 will likely be absolutely staggering. But while he may not be next year’s “hot” character, that doesn’t mean toy companies are giving Law a break–the limited One Piece Figuarts Zero Trafalgar Law Special Color Edition figure is now up for order!
Yesterday, I complained about Bandai Japan making the Figuarts Zero Koala figure a limited web exclusive. Regarding this Special Color Edition Trafalgar Law, there will be no such complaints.
I love Law. One Piece fans and collectors love Law. But we have what seems like millions of his figures now–including this one (but in non-metallic colors). So for many folks, this Figuarts Zero Law repaint statue is going to be an instant pass, no questions asked. But should he be?
The original Punk Hazard Law Figuarts Zero figure was released in 2013, so although that original release goes for very high aftermarket prices, it seemed a mite early to repaint that figure as a limited Tamashii Web Exclusive. But the more I look at it, the more the shininess of the paint apps on this Trafalgar Law limited figure grow on me. Could Law be glistening from the snow that’s fallen on his coat? Maybe.
For those wondering–yes, this Figuarts Trafalgar Law limited exclusive figure does the include the alternate head with Law’s hat off. At the time the original Figuarts Zero Punk Hazard Law figure was released, it was the only major figure of Law with his hat off (although there have been a couple more since–including a Law POP).
While I still don’t like this Figuarts Zero One Piece Trafalgar Law Special Color Version figure as much as either Portgas D. Ace Special Color Edition figure that Bandai has released, I’m willing to chalk it up as a legit variant that some collectors will find fun. I really wasn’t planning on buying this figure, but I’m being quietly won over by Law’s shimmering coat, so I’ll probably be picking this one up myself as well.
The Bandai One Piece Figuarts Zero Trafalgar Law Special Color Edition figure is now up for order, and is expected to be shipped in April/May 2015. BBTS is the only domestic US store carrying this figure, and they usually sell out of their allocation within a week or so, so reserve one now if this sparkly Shichibukai Law is a figure you think you may not be able to live without.
Thoughts on the new Figuarts Zero Shichibukai Trafalgar Law figure, One Piece collectors? Are you enjoying to Figuarts Zero Special Color Edition sub-line, or do you feel that this is an idea that’s run its course?
