2015 has been a bizarre year for MegaHouse One Piece Portrait of Pirates figure collectors. All of the adult One Piece POP 2015 figures that have gone up for order have been limited editions and exclusives, whereas the pint-sized One Piece P.O.P. Children figures have all been mass-released. And that trend will be continuing for one more month (likely the final month), as the 2015 One Piece POP MILD Franky, Usopp and Vivi figures are all now up for order!
But go all the way MegaHouse did, and the final old One Piece POP children figures needing reissues will finally be getting them this summer–with new and improved paint deco and new faces!
First, we’ve got one of my favorites–Franky! Man, Franky was ripped as a child! I wasn’t a fatty or anything as a kid, but I certainly never had the eight-pack abs that Franky was packing! I always wanted this Portrait of Pirates Child Franky figurine, but I never wanted to drop $100+ for one, so I am really pumped that MegaHouse is completing the kid Straw Hats as reissues–even the less-popular members like Franky.
The one new accessory that the CB-R3 One Piece P.O.P Mild Franky figure will include is an alternate angry face. I really like the disdainful frown that is the default look for this Franky MILD figure, but I have to admit that the new open-mouthed face for Franky is loads more expressive. Love it!
Finally, the reissues of the One Piece P.O.P. MILD Straw Hat Pirates will be complete with the return of the child Usopp figure! Usopp gets on my nerves quite a bit, but the kid Mugiwaras just wouldn’t be the same without him, so I’m glad that MegaHouse is giving me a new opportunity to snag a Portrait of Pirates Usopp MILD figure for cheap.
Usopp will include an alternate right arm, so he’ll be able to either give a thumbs up or show off his slingshot proudly. He’ll also have an extra crying face, which is perfect for the cowardly crybaby child that is the future “God” Usopp.
I do think it’s a bit bizarre that MegaHouse decided to give the MegaHouse Usopp Portrait of Pirates MILD figure a base that’s a totally different color from the Sailing Again Usopp. The yellow base of Mild Usopp and the green base of New World Usopp definitely clash quite a bit when displayed together.
Last, but definitely not least, we have the reissue of the “honorary” member of the Straw Hats, Princess Vivi! She may not have been with the other Mugiwaras for more than 500 episodes of the One Piece anime now, but Vivi will always be a member of the crew to me!
Vivi also will include an alternate face, but it’s, well… I don’t know what it is. I can’t tell if Vivi is supposed to be looking embarrassed, guilty, or what. This is probably the only alternate head in the whole reissued POP MILD lineup which I really hate (which is fine, since Vivi’s default face looks perfect).
The One Piece POP Mild Franky, Usopp and Vivi figures are now available for order, and are scheduled to be released in July 2015. I’m really happy that MegaHouse is giving us this expansive lineup of One Piece Portrait of Pirates Children figures this year–including all nine Mugiwaras plus Vivi and Boa Hancock, and I wouldn’t be sad at all we got some more kids (like a kid Trafalgar Law figure!) later on in 2015. A POP Mild Law is almost a sure-thing, right…?
Are you pleased that MegaHouse is completing their series of One Piece Portrait of Pirates Mild figures, One Piece fans? Or are you bored stupid from all the kid figures (and reissues) and looking forward to some good old-fashioned new characters in the latter part of 2015?
